The project involved the radiation shielding, architectural fit-out and electromechanical installations for the linear accelerator treatment room at Metropolitan Hospital in Faliro.
The project was completed within a tight two-month schedule. The first phase included the careful relocation of a chapel situated adjacent to the hospital, a technically demanding operation that required meticulous planning and execution.
The treatment room was shielded using vertical and horizontal steel plates with a thickness of 45 mm, installed by means of electric welding. The transportation and installation of these components were carried out by specialized personnel to ensure maximum safety. Following the completion of the shielding works, the electromechanical installations were carried out, including the installation of two new air-conditioning units to provide the required cooling for the new linear accelerator.
The hospital’s Technical Department and the Radiation Physics team entrusted our company with the installation of the innovative PALCLAD™ wall cladding system, which provides a modern aesthetic while offering excellent antimicrobial properties, making it ideal for sterile healthcare environments. Finally, all required radiation measurements were successfully completed, confirming the effectiveness of the shielding system.
